MENAb00ks is a new platform created by Georgia Bridgett.

MENAb00ks is a space to share reviews and author portraits of various types of literature about the history and cultures of the Middle East and North Africa; challenging stereotypes and misconceptions of a wonderfully beautiful and diverse region. You will find anything from reviews of fiction and non-fiction from poetry and novels to journalism, photography and art.

We will look at both literature written in English as well as translated literature.

The first post shared Our Women on the Ground: Essays by Arab Women Reporting from the Arab World. Edited by Zahra Hankir. One of my favourite quotes is ‘That night, Cairo was a feeling, not a city, a sentiment that could be reflected only by being there’ which is from the final essay titled Dying Breed by Roula Khalaf.
